Welcome to the forum cselix1,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

An unfortunate incident but a wise choice to have it towed. First thing to check is whether it is genuinely low on oil or it's a faulty sender. Any horrible noises before you stopped the engine?

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

No metallic clattering noises is very good news!

The Oil Pressure Sender is right next to the filter so it could have been disturbed / damaged during the recent oil change.

I recommend you start a thread in X308 tech section outlining what you have checked so far. Members with the same model will be able to help.

Hi cselix1,

Welcome! The Jaguar factory model code of your 1998 XJ8 was "X308," the V8 successor to the '95-'97 6-cylinder X300.

To get to the correct forum for your car, left click the FORUMS button at the upper left hand corner of this page;

In the drop down menu that appears click Jaguar Models (Modern);

And in the new menu that appears to the right, click XJ (308) XJ8 / XJR

Start a new thread in that forum describing the issues you're having with your car and lots of friendly folks will do their best to help.

Cheers,

Don

I m not convinced this shop did a good job. I am having it towed to another shop.Anyone have experience with Thoroughbred motors in Sarasota Florida? He thinks it might be the timing guides or a fuel pump. He's going to open it up for free and let me know. I sorry i dont have a lot time right now to learn this site, but I will figure it out and post in the correct spots when I do.

I've copied your post to Lower Atlantic Region forum to try and get advice about Thoroughbred Motors from members in FL.

Here's a direct link to it:

I hope this second shop is better.

The more reading I do here, the more amaized I am at the little things that could be wrong.I love the car and want to drive it. I just hope the motor isn't blown or it will cost to much to fix.
