ALERT!!! 1999-2001 XK MODELS
Just a note to alert you of a situation that could cause you ,or someone else, serious harm or death!
A Technical Service Bulletin, (TSB) # P-121 was issued back in 2002 for all 1999-2001 Jaguar XK models. The problem can cause your car, while driving normally, at 50, 60, 70 or 100MPH to all of a sudden go into "Restricted Performance" mode and your car losses all power and drops down to approximately 15 MPH!!!
Naturally, if you have an 18 wheeler behind you, this is not a good situation.
IT IS NOT A RECALL ITEM!!!
Jaguar's position, as well as the dealers is,
"We don't do anything to repair this shortcoming unless the customer experiences the problem.!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Ref: 20226 software mismatch pn 3.0 perform ecm reflash per TSB's Rewire TPS harness at throttle housing due to mismatch pins)
My car was at the dealership PALM BEACH MOTORCARS for service and repair work 4 times , while still under warrantee after this TSB was issued!!!
It amazes me that Jaguar can put it's customers in a position like this with a known defect.
My car experienced this problem at 20,226 miles and the dealer charged $587.03 for the repair.
