Aloha, my first jag. 2000 xj8 4.0
Aloha everybody, well I got my first Jaguar a few months ago. Living the dream and suffering through the nightmare.
I got this car from a guy that got it for his brother than didn't want it. $1,300. Excellent inside and out. It has a salvage title because the dash instruments don't work so no odometer reading, speedometer, teach, oil, temp volt, etc. Also the radio doesn't come on but the air con.works great.
I checked all fuses and all good yes even left side rear foot #18. Any other ideas? Let's see, what else? Going to replace front shock bushings. Ya deteriorated and I have the clunk noise. Easy fix.
Two weeks ago their was a pop and lots of steam and loss of coolant. Oh ya, the heater hose under the intake. With out this site I never would have known where to look or how to fix. Had to wait for the hoses but got it done in a day.
I did have the car towed home to fix it and after a week of sitting "dead battery".So I don't know how good of a repair I did on the leak. My battery is only three months old but won't take a charge. I put another three month old but new battery in and nothing still. Just a click. So I put a booster on and just a click. Had that battery tested too and won't take a charge.
I probably fried them both but I don't know how. I checked and sanded the cables. All except the ground from starter and the engine to frame. Those I will do tomorrow. Before I get a new battery to try again. I have been reading everything I can on this forum and so helpful.
Ok, one more thing. When I jump on the gas be it from a stop or cruising down the highway, the car surges like it's not getting enough fuel. I'm going to change the fuel filter also once it starts running, or could this be an injector or the fuel pump?
I live in Hawaii and we only have one Jaguar dealer here and getting parts is a pain.
EBay is my best buddy but still takes time.
Well thanks for all the previous information, and thanks in advance for help anyone can give now and in the future.
Douglas.

Welcome to the forum Douglas,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Jumping the battery, if not done correctly, can fry a lot of sensitive electronic components on a Jaguar. Be careful.
I can see you've already found your way to the X308 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
