Ambient cabin temp sensor fan...
Bought a 2002 X-type 2.5 last week. I have a question about the ambient cabin temperature sensor fan located on the right hand side of the instrument cluster in front of the driver. It seems to run all the time, without the key, and even when I unlock it and open the door it is running. I'm certain this is what I hear because you can put your ear close to the small grille and hear it. Is it supposed to do this or am I looking a some sort of malfunction?
Many thanks to whomever has the answer for me!

RE: Ambient cabin temp sensor fan...
Sounds like itsthe tinyfan which carries on running in humid conditions to circulate the air so you don't get blasted by warm air when you use your climate control. It circulates air across the humidity sensor.
It keeps running for a while after you switch off, and starts again
when you open a door. It does this so that there is less delay in
getting the climate control to the right setting when you switch on
(or restart )
