Hello everyone,
I was bitten with the Jag bug over 20 years ago when I bought my first one, a 1985 white XJS V12. Sublime, except for the preventative maintenance costs and did I mention that I was on a first name basis with the local petrol station staff. I also lost my license a couple of times for low level flying in it, but they were fun days...sigh, and it never let me down!
Had to let her go and followed up (?) with a Sunbeam Alpine whose engine was about the size of the V12 starter motor, but it was quaint and being red meant it went faster, than what I don't know.
Kids came along, so happily moved the two seater on for the 1968 Mk 2 340 manual with O/D in Old English White. Even today, they love going for a ride in 'their' jag. My wife just maintains her steely silence though.
Much more recently, I have purchased a 1985 S3 VDP, whose body shape I have admired and lusted after since I was a kid.
If my wife was silent up until now, I don't know how to describe the lack of noise currently.
This purchase is also the reason why I have been on this site a fair bit in the last month or so to gather tech tips and have finally got around to joining.
I just hope that over time I can contribute so others may gain useful pointers like I have.
I have always liked my cars and have always had a soft spot for Jags.
If I win Tatts, an XJ220 will appear regardless of whatever protestations my wife throws at me
Cheers and happy motoring from a currently very warm Melbourne.

You could always give your wife a worst case scenario; You Could be spending all that time and money in a pub somewhere, or on ponies, or dogs, or cards, or.......
She probably knows where you are on any given evening (garage) and unless you've neglected your financial obligations, like for example she's doing laundry on a rock, the family is bathing in a stock tank, she's cooking over an open pit and trotting to the privy at 3am, it could Always be worse!![Icon Razz](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the invite. I'll keep an eye on events.
Having school age kids makes it a bit of a challenge, especially since they are both into their weekend sport.
I'm a member of the Vic Jag Club and the only events I regularly get to are the F1 Jag display in March and the Concours usually at Wesley in November
Cheers,
Nigel

Welcome Jag-o-nomic
If you don't mind a tip from an old married guy. I go to a number of car events over the summer many of which are a substantial distance and require over night stays. While planning the trips I always map out the nearest mall. I know her favorite stores and put them in the GPS before leaving the house. Then each trip she gets 3-4 hours of shopping time. She looks forward to the trips now and even suggests shows I might have missed. Usually the ones near a Macy's. Works for me.
