Default Another New Guy Checking In

Shopping for an XK8 to pair with my Maserati 4200 coupe. I'm late to the "car world" having being into sport bikes and airplanes for a very long time. Looking forward to finding a good coupe (rare, I know!) for nice weather driving. The availability of sites like this is what makes the hobby workable for a hit or miss buyer like me.

Thanks to all who work to keep the doors open here and of course as well, to those who contribute their knowledge and experience.

Regards,

Lee...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm pretty sure I can see already that this is one of the most informative and helpful forums I'm involved with. I am enjoying working my way through a few of the very reasonably priced 15 or so year old exotics out there these days and the quest for information on Jags brought me here.

I'm not really enamored with the six speed Porsche 996.1 Carrera Four I recently got---nothing wrong with the car at all and I can certainly see its considerable appeal, but it's not really my cup of tea. It's available, which is why I'm nosing around for an XK8 of the same era (nothing favorable to be said for an empty garage slot)! My other English car is a 1958 Bentley S-1 of which I am the second owner, having bought it in London in 1976. It belonged to the Lord Mayor of London (if I'm saying that right), so I have (just a little) experience with British cars.

Anyway, thanks again for the welcome aboard. Looking forward to learning these cars much better than I know them at the moment. Great thing about being retired is you have a lot of time to "study"!

Sklimii: You're right, we are pretty close. If I do in fact pick up an XK8, I'll let you know. Would love to catch you for lunch or something to introduce myself. Your convertible is truly a good looking car!

Australia: Wow! Have visited all the city's listed except Dicky Beach! Haven't done any real driving in Oz but I've ridden dual sports all over the southeast and especially Tazzy. Wonderful riding and super friendly people. I happen particularly to like Melbourne---how can you hate Elizabeth Street! A main downtown street in a major international city that has maybe a dozen or more motorcycle shops! What's not to like?
