Default Back in a Cat after 14 years

It is great to have a Jag in the garage again. To facilitate a move from West Virginia to Phoenix Az in 2000 we sold our 64 E-Type FHC after 25 years of ownership. Last week we partially filled the void by acquiring a 98 XK8 Base Convertible.

I have greatly enjoyed finding answers to things like why the auto headlights don't work (mirror replaced with generic one without sensor); the broken wires that cause trunk light failures; how to program the remote key fobs; and the best way to put it on jack stands.

I haven't been able to solve the ABS and Stability Control Fail issue. but the troubleshooting tips were very helpful. I now know the battery voltage and tire pressure are good, the wheel speed sensors are clean, the resistance of each sensor at the module is appropriate, and the pump jack pins in the module have been re-soldered. I'm opting to send the module for the $50 rebuild rather than getting the codes read.

I thank you all for sharing your experiences. Sure saved me a bunch of time and frustration.

If there is a member who can access service records, I would love to know if there was any transmission or timing chain/tensioner work done at a dealership. The serial number is SAJGX2245WC028066.

Again thanks. Hopefully, I will be able to benefit others as I get into uncharted territory.

Hello,
We sometimes make hard choices when we move, don't we. And sometimes it sucks pond water. I'm glad you finally have a Kitty in the garage again and you're getting it sorted out.

One of the things that makes these forums so helpful is that people like you share what they have learned in that uncharted territory.

Welcome from ElinorB.

Welcome jshaub
Hope you get the XK8 sorted out soon so you can enjoy it. I called around to several dealerships trying to get information on mine. The dealership where it was originally sold still had the records and was willing to print me out a copy. Still had to do the secondary tensioners but it wasn't a difficult job following the help and suggestions of the members on this forum. Good luck and welcome aboard.
