Hello all,
I have just spent 8 months searching for my retirement Jaguar. I previously owned a 71 XKE v12 2+2 for two years back in 1973. Expensive beyond belief!
Thats the total experience with Jaguar, I have at the present time.
During this 8 month search, I have been on your boards learning everything I could prior to purchasing.
i know that I’m going to have more questions and many more things to learn.
Although I tried, I was unable to obtain service records prior to purchase. Still working on that issue. The car was a trade-in with a dealer. I bought the car based on its nearly pristeen condition and the carfax gave some clues that it was well maintained (30000 mi inspection done at 22,000 miles, zero codes, new brakes, 3000 miles on correct new Continental tires, etc.
My screen name comes from a Jay and the Americans song “ Come a little bit closer” from my time as a young man. If you know the song, you know that this is a song that stays in your head for weeks .......and this is the perfect internet screen name.
I’m a medically retired pilot after 47 years in aviation. 67 years old. I live in Savsnnah Ga and I will try to post a picture of the car if I can figure out how.
I have a few questions relate to subjects previously touched upon here but slightly different because of the circumstances of my purchase.

Welcome to the forum BadManJose,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Looks a good one. With no service history, I'd do the full maintenance schedule to give a baseline for future servicing and catch anything that could have been missed.
It sounds like you've already found the model froum but if not, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-lower-atlantic-nc-sc-fl-ga-66/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Thank you all for the nice welcome!
GGG, I attempted to update my profile, but dropped the effort when it all disappeared when attempting to preview it.
I think the issue may have been my using an iPad. I will attempt again later from my computer.
I’m still reading and learning from your forums.
You guys have created a truly amazing technical resource here.
The other valuable thing, I see coming about here is the lists of capable service locations for each state and city.
I later plan to travel some with this car, and that could be invaluable with a break down far from home.
We do this kind of thing in aviation in a more formal printed manner, but yours could be updated with feed back ......and kept ultimately much more current.
