Battery drain solved
Lvcat here just signed up as a new member and love the forum. We have 1997 xk8 British racing green beautiful car and have loved every minute. Maybe not every minute with little glitches.
We have Been able to fix some of them. Thanks to the forum. Battery drain issue being one. Took it to two shops to no avail with lots of $$$ later. After seeing post on forum, figured it out as dirty ignition. Cleaned and voila no drain.
Cleaned ignition & key with super lube with ptfe in it great stuff was not allowing system shutdown, tumbler was so dirty. All clean no problems also used super lube on auto seat switches and convertible latch working a lot better.
Both shops told me I needed a 1200.00 Bcm NOT. Thank you forum.
I am now trying to find the reason for not being able to use the fob or the switch to open boot of car. Anyone have any thoughts.

Welcome to the forum Lvcat,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums and to hear you've found useful information here.
You've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
If you can open the boot with the key but not the fob or the button, my first thought would be a break in the harness where it attaches to the boot hinge. Continual flexing with opening and closing often causes a break.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
