Belated Hello
I have broken etiquette by posting a few times before saying hello so I am here to make amends.
I bought my red 1997 X300 a few months ago. It's done 155,000 miles but I chose it based on price and service record.
It's in generally good nick with a few common faults - clock, broken ventilation vanes, patch of dodgy lacquer on bonnet.
I replaced the radio with a cheap Philips DAB unit: it could go louder but no complaints really.
I intend to do as much maintenance as I can myself but I thought I would start off with a clean(ish) slate so I had it serviced by a very local Jag specialist and spent a bit more than planned: hole in the sill repaired, one of the rear bumper supports replaced, new mounting rubbers for the radiators, new rear silencer boxes, rear shock bush replaced.
It really needs a suspension overhaul as I am guessing it is all original but for financial reasons it will have to happen slowly.
But why did I buy it? Over the years I have had a selection of dull family motors and just wanted a bit of daft luxury. Driving it just makes me smile, it's not sensible but sod it, it's fun.

Welcome to the forum rod_f,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
As long as you still keep smiling at the petrol station, it's the car for you.
I can see you have already found your way to the X300 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.
Enjoy the forums.
