Unhappy Bluetooth for 2004 XJ8 - Cannot connect

Hi we are new to Jaguar family and have been unsuccessful trying to connect to Bluetooth in our 2004 XJ8, despite following directions. Some sites say enter ##3#*# then press call button but nothing happens. Other site said connect Bluetooth on phone then select Jaguar but no Bluetooth devices come up. We have tried both IPhone 4S and IPhone 5 with no luck. Previous owner said it did not work, but how do we resolve?

welcome to the forum and the Jag family - have you searched the XJ (X350 & X358) section how to's? XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

I found the following that Graham had posted to a fellow member:

When the ignition is switched ON, the BT system searches for the last paired phone. If the phone is not found, then HANDSET is displayed.

If all you want to do is pair another phone, enter ##3#*# and press SEND to initiate the pairing process. At this stage, go through the DISCOVER procedure and this will overwrite the old paired phone.

I believe the phone must be in pairing mode when trying to pair as well.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of topics on Bluetooth in the X350 section.

Just one thing from my side. 2004 models did not have bluetooth from the factory, what makes you so sure you have it? It can be retrofitted, but not many have done this.

Does your car have a touchscreen?

Welcome to the forum Juls,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

You could be fighting a losing battle. Are you certain the vehicle is Bluetooth equipped? All Jaguars have the steering wheel and dashboard controls fitted but Jaguar BT was an expensive option which few buyers chose.

The pairing code is
##3#*# but owners do sometimes have issues getting further than having this code accepted because the system is searching for the PO's phone!

Follow Steve's link to the X350 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western East Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/w...t-hi-wa-id-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
