Smile Bluetooth to existing system.

I just purchased a 2004 xjr with all options. The phone system is installed but I want to convert it to bluetooth. Does anyone make a simple conversion for this to adapt to the stereo system.

Welcome,

Congrats on your new XJR.

Check it definitely does have a phone system installed. Phone buttons on the steering wheel and the audio front panel don't necessarily mean the rest of the components are there. I'd have thought a 2004 model with a phone system would be Bluetooth enabled but the guys on the XJ350 section will be able to advise.

It has the phone holder in the console with the cable attached. Do they make an adapter to fit the holder?

It sounds as if you've hit unlucky having one of the Jaguar handset installations just prior to Bluetooth although it could even be an aftermarket setup.

Jaguar went through a variety of Motorola handsets with bespoke software before finally implementing Bluetooth. Best bet is to post a photo of your holder on the X350 section and the guys there should be able to identify the phone it goes with.

The easiest solution would be to source a handset and divert your own phone to it if your service provider allows this option. I did this with the last Jaguar saloon I had (an XJ8L) rather than replace the standard Jaguar audio installation.
