Hi All,
Grown up with Jags as a kid, Cali Step Dad has his xj6 and dad has his xj6 with a v8, in Europe. Loved the lines as a kid and still like those oldies.
Now, I'm all grown up and so are these cars. Just drove a 2003 and loved it! Seems from he boards on here, if they are kept up, they will treat the owner well. What should l look out for....? I will be taking the car to get checked out by my shop before buying, but wanted to see if you Jag lovers can point me to possible trouble spots. Looking for lower miles between 2001 - 2003.
thanks in advance, looking forward to reading more of these postings.
Lance, soon to be XJR owner

The Jag V8 had some problems early on: Nikisil cylinder lining, timing chain tensioners, and water pumps.
The Nikisil issue was pretty much gone by 2001-02 and Jaguar has updated parts for timing chain tensioners and water pump. I think an '03 would have the improved parts, not sure about earlier models. Prevailing wisdom is to have the improved parts installed *before* you have a failure.
Anyhow, I'd inquire in the model-appropriate section. I'm sure you'll find many who can elaborate on the details.
Cheers
