Hello fellow Jag enthusiasts. I have a 2003 XJ8, well cared for and a pleasure to drive. In Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in the early seventies had a 1963 Mk2 3.8, best car I have ever owned.

Welcome to the forum Rob-Ecob,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I also have great memories of the '60's Jaguars. Wish I'd kept them!

2003 was a model change year. Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum
for help, advice and information if you have the earlier steel bodied XJ8 or this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...j6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X305 forum if it's the later aluminium bodied model . The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link Canada - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your country.

Enjoy the forums.

Default Thanks for your responses

I appreciate the kind replies to my joining the forum, and look forward to communicating with other Jaguar enthusiasts. Can someone tell me how to be sure my 2003 is an aluminum or steel body? I could get a magnet and go arround and underneath I guess, however I do not know if in the aluminum vehicles all body panels were aluminum, or only the underside sheet metal. My car has a couple of small rust blisters under the paint at the back of the rear fenders.
