Car guy all my life, new to Jaguars
Hello everyone. I look forward to getting to know you as I move forward with my 2002 XK8 convertible.
This car is a departure from my usual fare. I am basically an old hot rodder at heart. I have been a car builder for the last 25 or so years. My usual project is a '32 Ford, or a '57 Thunderbird, etc.
Recently while working on a 23 Ford T-bucket for a customer I had reason to look for some parts for his chromed Jag rear suspension. While looking through some Ebay offerings I happened upon a XK8 for sale. I thought, "my, that is just a beautiful car"!
I just assumed it was well out of my price category. But as it happened, it wasn't.
The problem is that while it looked really good on the web, the devil was in the details. At this point I have a check engine lite going as well as so many warnings on the message center that I had to write them down to keep track.
So after licking my wounds and kicking myself for awhile I have decided to just suck it up and learn what I need to make it right. I have to confess, I am intimidated when I see all that electronics.
I have a background in electronics, I retired from my tech business in 2000. But I have not kept up with the advances in the automotive part. Some of my hot rods have modern fuel injection, but nothing like this.
So, I will try to pull my weight and help when I can. But I expect to need a lot of help. Thank you in advance for any help you may give.

Welcome to the forum Lanny,
Thanks for taking the hint to post an intro. :-)
Good to have you with us.
You will find the tech section here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-17/ I've moved your other thread there for a better response.
I expect the first advice you will get will be to check the battery.
Maybe you can take a look in the regional section too Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
