Changing Time on SatNav and Hello

Changing Time on SatNav and Hello
I realise I posted this question as a reply to an earlier thread but since it was such an old one and I'm just starting to get the hang of this site, please bare with me as I post this as a new question.
BTW my thanks to "White XKR " for his reply to my earlier thread post, but I'm hoping this new post will generate some new info.
First of all as a new "member", I'd just like to say that this is truly an amazing site and a great source of info - my thanks and congrats to the administrators and contributors.
I have owned a 1990 V-12 XJS for some time and just recently bought my wife a 2004 XK8 which she loves ( browny points galore here ). Both cars are beautiful vehicles of which we are very satisfied/proud owners, even with the overheating foibles of the XJS.
Unfortunately the XK8 is fitted with the SatNav system so doesn't have oil/battery gauges or a real clock, which I would have preferred. This wouldn't be so bad if the Jaguar engineers/designers had realised that there are actually more than four time zones in North America. We live in Atlantic Canada which is Eastern time +1 hour ( Newfoundland is 1/2 an hour further ahead - go figure ) so we can't get our time zone on the vehicle clock. Why would they do this (and I see they only have two time zones for Europe ) when the cars are sold all over the world?
Is there some way to override the system to get the clock to read our local time?
Thanks again for the great web site.
My apologies for the long winded post.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum Taff-one,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. A great pair of Jaguars you have there.
It sounds like you are already finding your way around. If you need shortcuts, follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section and the one XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJS section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forum.

Thanks Norri,
I'll check out the other Canadians. I'm a member of the Fredericton (NB) Area British Auto Club ( FABAC ) by the way-web site www.fabac.org. We have over 100 members with at least a dozen Jags among us.
Cheers

Not having the Navigation screen in my XK8, I had to check the Navigation Handbook for your MY to see how it works.
As you have discovered, there's only six time zones available, with four in the US. The introduction section advises "the correct time is maintained automatically from GPS satellite signals and no manual adjustment is required".
I've gone through the handbook and it appears "no manual adjustment is required" actually means no manual adjustment is available!
It could be worth an enquiry with your Jaguar Dealer to ask if there's an option in their WDS diagnostics system to recalibrate the clock + or - one of the available time zones to display the correct time in your location.

I've posted a request to Jaguar Canada for any info they can give - we'll see how they respond and I'll keep the site informed.
