Don't own yet. Researching maintenance issues first.

Strongly considering an S Type or STR.
I've always loved this car and now the used price is down towards my level. The caveat being part failure maintenance that goes with buying a 7-10yo car.
I don't know a thing about DIY car repair, but I'm comfortable learning. I can take lawnmower engines apart and I've always built my own computers. Hardly car engine work, but I'm not afraid to jump into this sort of stuff to save a buck.

Welcome to Jaguar Forums.
A good place to start is in the S-type section. Pay particular attention to the sticky threads at the top. If you read through those, you will become familiar with the most common problems and the usual solutions.
You can also start reading at the beginning of the section and work forwards through time. Should take about two weeks if you plug away at it every day. By doing that you become familiar with the personalities of your fellow members.
