Howdy,
At the beginning of the year I took the plunge and bought a 1997 XK8 convertible that had been sitting in a neighborhood used car lot for months.
With lots of valuable research on these forums and only a quick ride around the block to test drive I decided his asking price was low enough to take a chance. I've been really lucky so far, and though the car needs a little love, it's been surprisingly solid so far. Amazingly solid even.
I'd like to find a mechanic with Jaguar experience somewhere in the Hampton Roads area of eastern Virginia, hopefully between Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Any pointers would be appreciated!
I've never owned such a great car before. I look forward to many happy miles.

Welcome to the forum volkris,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums and to hear the XK8 has been solid so far. Jaguars don't respond well to long periods of idleness and it's not unusual to have electrical issues with one that has stood on a lot.
It sounds like you've already found the relevant model forum but if not, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region. This is the place to ask for recommended Jaguar mechanics.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
