Exceptional forum - Already saved me big $$$$
I just acquired an '02 XKR Convertible with 34,000 miles and live in Alexandria, Virginia. It's in pristine shape with just a few issues I'm chipping away at (front/rear sway bar bushings, shocks/struts, new tires, etc.) and am upgrading the stereo and the guidance has been really helpful.
Glad to be here.

Welcome to the forum Qi_Doc,
Congratulations on the XKR. Good to hear you've already found useful information here.
You might not want to connect the words 'chipping' and 'front' where the XKR is concerned - very susceptible to stone chips / gravel rash on the front bumper.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

GGG/Graham - you're spot on about the chips...
I've been addressing about 30+ rock chips on the front bumper, and currently the car failed state inspection over a headlamp.
Of course, the headlamp is NOT OEM, and that the previous owner installed an aftermarket HID system and the ballast died, so my cat's in the shop (for over two weeks) and not available for the glamor shot I was going to do add to my signature.
Any rec's on the chips? I've been dabbing with touch up paint (6 very thin coats), then I was going to either sand the whole area and then rubbing compound then spray with clearcoat, or just try to random orbit some rubbing compound to flatten out the high paint in the chipped areas.
Thanks again for the warm welcome. This site is fantastic.

Bill,
Bad news on the headlamp - those things are a serious price.
Check the Detailing / Car care - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section for advice on chips. There's good information on materials and techniques.
