Exclusionary Warranty

I recently purchased a 2005 Vander Plas with 12,000 miles. Its Manufacture warranty expires in 1 year. I just had it in for a check up and to get squeaking brakes looked at â€œbrakes still squeakingâ€. The Dealer is trying to sell me an exclusionary warranty which will cover the vehicle through 75,000 miles. It will cost $4,800 and has a 100 dollar deductible. Any comments on whether to purchase a warranty.

Seems kind of steep..But that maybe what it is for the upperend Jags..

I paid $2100.00/$100 deduct.for my X type

My experience with the X-type, it would have been worth it to purchase. Given that more things can go wrong with the more expensive/complicated XJ, I'd say its DEFINITELY worth it in your case. I'd ask how much to get a warranty up to 100,000 miles, most of the problems with my x-type happened after 80k but your mileage may vary
