Finally got a Jaguar....
Hello-
A couple months ago I went to look at an old Town Car (see signature) & saw an X-Type. Sat in it & thought it wasn't bad. Also checked out some S-Types. Bid & won an X-Type on eBay- went to pick it up & it had "engine fault" & "gearbox fault" codes- went home (3 hrs away) & cancelled transaction. A few weeks ago I saw an '02 XJ8 on eBay & an '07 XJ8 at a dealer- both were close by so I went to see (yes, learned my lesson). The '07 seemed smaller, but the '02 seemed okay (low, but at least my knees weren't on the dash). Beat out a last minute sniper & won that one....
Have always had an interest in British cars (Jaguar, Rolls & Bentley). When I was living in Japan I did look at Jaguars, but didn't get one. Don't remember why- too expensive, too small, changed my mind, etc.
First foreign car I've owned (while living in States anyhoo). Basically been all FoMoCo except for my Park Avenue in Japan & Cherokee in Israel.
Still not registered.... Waiting to sell my Focus to transfer plates.
Only problem so far is getting duplicate keys.... Jaguar wanted $203 for a key (cutting & programing extra). Got 2 aftermarket keys on eBay for $20- need to find someone to cut & program.
Hope the transmission holds out (& that it's not guaranteed I'll eventually have a problem). At only 63k miles, should be awhile even if there eventually are problems. Should get my money's worth....
With only temp tags, haven't driven it much, but have enjoyed the trips I've taken. Figure when it becomes my commute car (55 miles into Brooklyn), I'll spend enough time behind the wheel....

Focus is sold and Jaguar got tagged & titled today....
Learned a good lesson at the Motor Vehicles.... A PA dealer cannot transfer the title of a FL car to someone in NJ (& being sold at auction in MD didn't help any). Dealer had to get a PA title & transfer that to me. Although bought on eBay, the dealer was quick to respond & got a title in his name. Only problems are 1) cost me $60 to get a title I had for less than a week & 2) now Carfax will show an additional owner (although today I have no plan on selling anytime soon).
Hope to get the front license bracket on & the Sirius installed this weekend. Monday morning it starts its new life as a commuter car....
