New to me 2007 XK convertible
Thank you for having me. I bought a 2007 XK convt. last year and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I have always loved Jaguars since I was a kid (especially seeing a bright red E-type convt. at that age). Now I am older and BIGGER and cannot fit into very many sports cars at all. But low and behold the 2007 XK just fits me perfectly with the seat all the way back and down. Have not had much in the way of problems except she likes to run warm especially at lower speeds. It is better a little with the A/C turned off. I am running the OBD Fusion app so I can see the temperatures. Highest I have seen is is about 204.6 F. I have already changed thermostat and housing. Would like to know how to be able to tell if the fans are running at low or high speeds. Did a bit of research before I bought this car and I would not have bought it if I was afraid to work on it (work on LearJets and Hawkers and as anyone who knows can tell you they are a pain in the @$%). Any advice would be great.

Welcome to the forum Jetman,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
The earlier XK8/XKR (1996-2006) had low and high speed fans. On the XK (2007) the cooling fan speed is controlled directly by the Engine Control Module (ECM) based on inputs from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), climate control and transmission oil temperature sensors. If the output signal falls outside range, maximum fan-speed is initiated to protect the engine and the over-temperature warning light is illuminated in the instrument cluster.

Finally a Jaguar!
New member here. I have always liked Jaguars ever since I was a kid and saw a red E-type convertible. Have a baby blue 2007 XK convertible now for a year with no major problems and am loving it every day. I run with the OBD Fusion app for gauges and it works pretty well. I changed my coolant and thermostat housing last year primarily because I do not know the full history of the car and it runs a little warmer than I like for here in Texas. I also changed out my cell phone module since it intermittently would connect then wouldn't. Car does have its minor flaws in the paint and interior, but for 10 years old not bad at all.

Thanks all for the greetings. Will post pictures soon of my car and other details. I do have a question though. Does anyone make a cooler thermostat for the 2007 model XK's. I only ask because being here in Texas the summers are pretty warm and traffic sucks in Austin at times. And with no temperature gauge except for OBD Fusion app on my phone I do not want to get the warning with no place to pull over. The car has not overheated, but I would prefer it to operate cooler than it does now. I did pull the thermostat and put it in a pot on the stove and it cracked open at around 195 and was almost full open at 210, but it was hard to see from the steam then. I would prefer a 180 degree thermostat.
