Finally! My own Jag!

I must admit, I have used this forum to my advantage without giving back. I intend to right this wrong by sharing all the things I have learned in one place. I will try my best to find the right threads to share everything my Jag has shared with me. That being said, here is my story. Coming from a low income, raised by a single mom, my mom and I would joke with each other when ever we saw an XKE or XJS that the mechanic was out joy riding in our car again! I never thought I would ever own one. I have always wanted one and would find myself dreaming through Autotrader. Years and years later, I found my XK8 on Craigslist. The car was obviously in trouble, I waited to long to pull the trigger, the owner consigned it to an auto auction. I played hookie from work, had to wait till the very end of the day. It was the last car to hit the block that day. I got it for $850.00 after all costs!!! It was in restricted performance mode but it started and moved so that was all I needed to pull the trigger. After getting a flat bed to get it to my shop, I was still into it for around $1000.00.
I got my first OBDii reader to sort thru all the codes. Replacing the TPS sensor solved the first problem! Awesome!!! I really had a drivable 2002 XK8 coupe in classic British Racing Green! (crappy repaint). Interior is rough, 172,000miles but dammit. Got my Jag! Now, the list: Plastic rotary switch in shifter, transmission A-drum and upgraded shift valve, trans mount, valve cover gaskets, water pump, aluminum thermostat housing, radiator hoses, front a-arm bushings and ball joints, front upper shock mounts(delrin), sway bar bushings, rear speakers, crank seal, all wheel bearings. And now....THE ENGINE!!! The saga continues...

Welcome to the forums XKAV8R,
Other than the crank seal, that's a typical list of work required but "now .... THE ENGINE!!!" sounds ominous unless you are just doing tensioner replacement.
As you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum, there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

Congratulations on your First Jaguar at very long last!!
And, congratulations on all your successful repairs to this point.
You are aware, aren't you, that now you and your Jaguar are well and truly Bonded for Life.
And that's bad because? Not!
