First Jaguar
Greetings! Just purchased a 1985 XJ6 with almost 100K miles, very nice interior, and a little rust. Broke down momentarily on the 1 hour ride home -after about 20 minutes the car just stalled out - and I coasted to the side of the highway. Waited 5 minutes and it started again and I proceeded home. Next day took it for a short ride in town and stalled after 3 miles or so and this time couldn't restart. Towed home. Later in the day, changed the fuel filter and got it started again but not at all sure I cured the problem. Time will tell. Lots of connections to clean up but other than that does anyone have an thoughts about my cars symptoms?

Welcome to the forum Nanonevol,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome aboard. Sure sounds like fuel. Could be a fuel pump on it's way out. I helped my Dad with a car once, it would run perfect for about a half an hour then just die. Five minutes later it would start and run fine. It finally got down to about 5 minutes of running and die. It was very consistent, turned out to be the filter sock on the intake in the gas tank. It would let gas flow for a little bit and then collapse and choke off the engine. Good luck with it.
