First time saying hello! Bought an X Type... and it's making a noise.
Hello guys! Just joined the forum and first time saying hello. Glad to be a part of this community. I just bought my first Jaguar. A 2004 X Type with the 2 (2.1?) liter V6, and I love it. Always wanted one. Love how it looks. Love how uncommon it is. Been great.
However, it's making a whining sound while accelerating. Only noticable at low RPM (1000-2300) and stops when I take my foot off the pedal. It's louder when the engine is cold, but quiets down when warmed up. But it's still noticable. I googled a bit and found out that it could be the transfer case, but my car, being FWD, doesn't have a transfer case. Pretty confused right now.
Another issue is, while peeping through the front right wheel to have a look inside, I saw what appears to be oil. There are small drops of oil on the wheel as well. Could this be related to the whine?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the warm welcome guys. Coming from a Japanese sports car forum, this is a really nice experience! Everyone is so polite. Everyone's a gentleman here I'm assuming
I wanted to post on the X Type sub forum, but then I came across a sticky that said something like "introduction is a must", so I posted here. Sorry. I will post this up on the x type sub.

We ask all newbies to post an Intro so we can see what they drive and where they are located. It gives us the opportunity to welcome everyone and give some advice on relevant Model and Region forums.
You've got a detailed technical post here so re-posting in X-Type forum will bring it to the attention of members with the same model.

Elinor (LnrB) could take exception to that assumption.
