Default FNG. Introductions

Hi guys.

New 1999 xk8 L owner here. Real nervous as I know nothing about Jags.

Have devoted last couple of years to corvairs.

Just getting the feel of my new driver. I've got full service history. Bought it from a couple who we bight previous olds touring sedan. When we bought the olds told them I'd buy the jag when they were done with it. Well 14 years later got the call when they bought new panamera. Paid 2k. Has 129k on it.
Couple of things I've noticed...
1. Cassette player? Really? Has a button for cd maybe have to buy some sort of entertainment module? Probably can't replace stereo...

2. When ac is used, fan stays on after car is shut off. Read that there may be issues with pump? Checked FAQ first.

3. Seat memory position - aint none. also driving with the wheel down on my nads was a treat. figured that one out. however considering I drive a 1963 convertible corvair, more of a bitch than an issue. But is there a solution to extend the seat further back?

4. Slight vibration... Ral slight.. Feel like its a tire balance or front bearing issue as vibrio only transmits thru steering wheel. Although for as big and heavy as this car is it seems like it should roll easier, maybe geared low?

5. Tyres? What pressure, please no metric... And god I don't want to think what these monst cost. Remember I'm used to buying 175 r 13s when I can find them.

Otherwise this is an

Welcome to the forum Blue hen,

Congratulations on the XJ8L.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Mid Atlantic Region section by following this link Mid Atlantic - MD VA DC DE WV - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

1. For the audio system, the CD unit should be on the RH side of the luggage compartment.

2. for the seat memory, check the Driver's Handbook for the setup procedure to cleat the PO's settings first before moving on to more complicated (and $$!) possibilities. It's unusual for all the functions to fail.

3. if wheel balance / bearing doesn't cure the vibration, look for info on front suspension bushes in the tech section. Upper wishbone bushes are a common failure.

4. Tyre pressures - for 16", 17" and 18" wheels, normal is F=32psi and R=34psi.

You'll get a lot of different answers on that last one but this is what Jaguar recommend.

Enjoy the forum.
