I have a 1998 xk8 rag top that is dark blue 110k and is in 98% on the original scale for the first 90 days and after sitting 22 days I started it and it sounded great. Five days later it would spin but would not start. I have not owned a Jag for 22 years , I have owned over 25 jags from 120s ,140s to xkes 3.8 to 4.2 this jag was the first one the air conditioning worked. I need a scanner to find the code to find out what is the problem. I am in love with the xke styling and performance, My question is will I need to buy a new pistol and ski mask to keep the cat running to support the mechanics shop bill in Little Rock, Arkansas, I am 62 and have not wanted to do mechanic work , I owned three shops in the 70s and have have hand tools, I have experience with the old British cars but the ford parts and new electric systems are a challenge.

This Forum is the place to get the troubleshooting help you need. I would first make sure that fuel is making its way to the cylinders somehow. If you're not sure, try introducing a bit through an intake hose grommet and see if it fires. You can narrow down the list of potential maladies by tinkering around with it like this. I hope you figure it out quickly and cheaply and get back on the road.
