Hello Jaguar forums! I could really use some help here! My 91 xj6 4.0 sovereign has a starting issue, I believe is the starter inhibitor, or as we call it, the neutral safety switch. I would like to bypass it if possible, or replace it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hello, Gary,
I know it's possible to bypass that switch, but I can tell you from personal experience you might not want to.

Mine was inoperative when I got the car, which I knew, but it was Really embarrassing when it started in Reverse one day soon after she came to live with me. No harm done, but it fell Really hard off the jack stands.

Someone will be along soon to direct you to the correct section where you can find help for your car.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Gary,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Inhibitor a.k.a. brake interlock solenoid? Not a difficult replacment.
