Default G'Day from Sydney Australia

G'day All

I'm not quite a new Jaguar owner yet, but after 16 years of Range Rover ownership I want to venture forward into Jaguar world. The deal is basically done on a real pretty 1997 Jaguar xj6 Heritage 3.2. 160000 klm with a service history that would choke a horse.
Having read many posts on this forum it seems like a very friendly and helpful place to be for a new owner. Please brace yourselves for the usual silly questions.

Cheers and thank you Chris

Welcome.

Rangee to Jaguar, now that is a quantum leap.

The mighty X300, and especially that sweet 3.2ltr engine, are bullet proof.

No such thing as a silly question, just silly owners who fail to ask, and then bugga it up and have the cheek to blame the car, DUH.

Welcome bell, hopefully all that service investment by the previous owner will give you a good base to work with. There are some very helpful people here and some of the threads are an education in themselves, even if its an issue you dont have at the moment. Enjoy.

G'day
Thank you and others for the warm welcome. I read in the new member intro I think that you have to be around awhile to be classified as a non blowin and sounded like I should keep my head pulled in for awhile before I start with the silly questions. May I ask a question anyway? This 1997 xj6 Heritage I'm all hot and bothered about, has one glaring problem, the easy entry - exit feature with the auto adjust of seat, mirrors and steering column doesn't work at all. seat will not move with buttons and mirrors will not adjust. The dealer I'm dealing with is going to sort it out, but what I was wondering when its operational, can you turn this feature off with the knob on the column and still adjust everything manually with the appropriate buttons.
thank you Chris

Chris, ask all the questions you like. There is no "non blowin" time frame here.
Not sure if yours is X308/X305 or X300, I assume you will know. Post your questions in which thread below suits your model.

G'day All

Who said he'd never get there. I'm now the proud owner of a 1996 Jaguar Sovereign 4.0 x300. So after a day and a half of ownership I can finally see what all the fuss is about, they are bloody good aren't they.

Ive got a few things to sort out on the old girl but Ive also got some elbow room to sink a few dollars into it and end up with a pretty and reliable car.

The other bonuses being a Jag owner is I can now walk on water and I don't have to have the exhaust fan on when I'm in the bathroom. Arrrh the joy of it all.
Cheers Chris

Congratulations Chris,

The X300 is probably the most robust of the recent Jaguars. I put 160k miles on mine and only traded against an X308 for something different.
