Hello, I'm new to the Jaguar and I'm here because my grandson has a 98 XK8 and it needs some help. I understand from a couple sources, that this year Jag had some problems with the sensors. I have the car here in Boise, Idaho and my grandson lives in Jacksonville, Florida. His mom and dad were just posted to Italy and I want to get the car reliability functional so it can be used for many years to come. My grandson is not very mechanically inclined. By trade I am a heavy equipment mechanic and currently retired from the military.

Welcome.

Not sure of sensor issues, but the early V8's had issues with the top timing chain tensioners mainly.

The ZF transmission is one of those dumb sealed units, but thrives nicely with some fresh fluid every 2 or so years.

The info you need is all in the XK8 area.

Enjoy.
