Great deal on this jag got me my membership!
Hey all, from sunny southern California. Got a 2001 Jaguar XJR delivered to me on 6/12 and only now have felt the pain of what its like to have only the Valet key. I've been good at avoiding the button on the center dash panel for months, but I have a slight suspicion that my daughter got into the front seat recently and started pushing any buttons she could reach, excessively. Valet being one of them. Being as I received the car with the "green headed" key, I found my self in trouble and inadvertently landed on this site trying to find a solution. Luckily a valet mode thread saved the day. Left curious what exactly triggers the security module to cancel valet mode, read that its the "trunk lights" coming on, but the power wire of the circuit is the same for vanity lamps, garage door opened, and glove box illumination. Wondering if emulating the resistance of the trunk lamps, or momentarily grounding the wire at one of the other components would suffice?
I look forward to getting to know the members on this site, getting advice, giving some input on what I can and getting to know the Jaguar communications system and the car itself, as best as I can.
Id like to see if anyones had success in installing a SQ system in one of these cars without sacrificing the entire trunk because this outdated Alpine system has to go!
As of now, Ive replaced an Bank 1 Sensor 1, O2 sensor. P1646(fuel pump 2 relay) Code along with a P1000 (readiness) code.. and chasing a power steering leak and some oil leaks, possibly valve covers?

Welcome to the forum vlads_xjr01,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.
Valet mode is cancelled when the vehicle is locked/opened with the remote fob. Although the best solution is to get a black headed Master Key, disconnecting the Valet Switch would prevent a repeat of any inadvertent button pushing.
