Greetings from california
Hello, my name is David, and I am the proud owner of a '99 XJ8.
Unfortunately, the reason I am joining is because I have run into a bit of a hic-up with my car, which will be posted up in the appropriate section shortly.
As for myself, I am an IT professional working in southern California, and I am perfectly willing to offer my computer tech knowledge in exchange for being allowed to borrow this community's auto tech knowledge. I am quite comfortable with automotive tools (3 years of high school autoshop), but high school autoshop isn't really the the greatest testament of actual diagnosis and repair knowledge, rather just taught me how to use an arc welder and an impact wrench without hurting myself.
Also, for maintenance I am not comfortable with, I am very open to suggestions for a mechanic in southern California that is trust worthy.

I'm up here at the junction of the 210 and 57 fwy's. If you can work on computers then you can fix the car. You just go through a series of yes/no questions and use a multimeter to check the wiring. The stuff going on is controled by a computer called the ECU or ECM. They have an EPROM which figures out what to do based on input from sensors and rheostats.
IT AIN'T ALL THAT AND A BAG OF CHIPS!

Hello David and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.
Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
