Greetings everyone
Hello my name is Christian Chartier. I'm new to the forum in a posting manner but have secretly found myself navigating over to this site numerous times over the last 9 year of ownership.
I'm a Florida island (IRB) resident, and have been finding myself spending more and more time becoming a "at home mechanic" in my spare time, hence my introduction today to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Christian,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!
I've admired jags since I was a little boy always climbing out of my seat to catch a glimpse as these vehicles would go by. At 23 I made it happen although it was already 7 years old!
Somehow I was unaware of the fact that in 04 the vanden Plas was SWB, but love the car nonetheless and may even die in it lol.
I've actually listed it for sale a couple times over the years (to satisfy the wife ) but after being contacted, I would always tell them it was not for sale! I just could not part with it.
Needless to say, at that point I decided I would start bringing her back to life as deferred maintenance was starting to rear it's ugly head.
While I studiously studied the forums, I uncovered many ways to do things other than shell out thousands and bend over.
Using the info from forum members of past and present, I also learned about interchangeable control arms, the fact that bushings can be replaced etc.
Coming from being scared to touch a wrench for fear of the car falling apart with one bolt or nut, I'm now wrenching and replacing my own parts (simple items of course).
My largest project was completed just a couple weeks back and that was the enclosed wheel bearing just past the hub on the rear left side. What a pain! Took me a few days but eventually sorted it all in my garage for $70 albeit several days of my time. Wife says I used it as an excuse to get out of the house and away from her and the two kids. Whether that was the case or not, I'll never say, but through the headaches, disappointments and successes, I've come to admire and love this car that much more..... Am I going to cry? Only if she tells me to sell it again!
Thanks again everyone

Christian,
It's unusual for a VdP vehicle NOT to be LWB. As it's trim and not performance differences, original buyers could specify it on the standard length body if they wanted although few appear to have done so.
Always good to hear the information on the forum is useful and especially when it encourages members to carry out their own repairs. You're getting to a more advanced level with the bearings. Well done.
