Default Greetings everyone!!

I'm new here and excited about the impending purchase of my new (used, but new to me) vehicle, which I've decided may be my choice of two Jaguar S-types 4.0. An '02 and an '01. After researching many BMW's, I find the Jag to be more pleasing to the eye and an overall better value. im only spending under $10k and intend to keep this vehicle for a short time.

Both are selling for under 10k USD and have around 75,000mi.

While researching the more expensive car, I noticed some disturbing maintenance history. A radiator flush and a fuel injector cleaning was done at around 33k miles. Then 9 months and 10k miles later the fuel injectors were replaced. I looked up the approximate cost of the injector job and was appalled.

Any thoughts on how a problem like this could occur? An owner neglecting to fill the car with premiun fuel, perhaps? Should I even waste my time seeing it? it has put on an additional 30k with no apparent issues that I can see.

The other car is $1000 less and has a very clean history. The salesman gives me the old " this was driven by an elderly couple" routine.

Any of your thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

The best place to ask for this type of information would be in the S Type section.

There, the guys have experience of this model.

Best of luck.
