Default Greetings fromScotland

Good morning/afternoon or evening depending on your location, I have just signed up and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Ayr, Scotland and I am recently retired after 40 years in the aviation industry. I have just acquired a 1995 Daimler 6, this is my first Jaguar and , so far, I am very impressed. The car is a two owner vehicle with 80000 miles. I bought it mainly on condition and the knowledge that the car had been very well maintained by it’s previous engineer owner.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos as the car has been covered in frost and snow since I brought it home last week.
I understand that it is helpful to list your vehicles with your post, so here is my current list.

1995 Daimler 6
1988 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit
2001 Bentley Arnage Red Label
2004 Mercedes S350
2003 BMW 330 convertible
2000 Volvo S60 T5

I don’t admit to owning a 2017 BMW X3, which I do.

I look forward exchanging posts as I am sure I will have more than a few questions.

Welcome to the forums Yesterdaysman,

Good to have you with us. I wouldn't like to pay the combined insurance premiums and VED for that lot!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Thanks Graham, I will have a look at those links. Surprisingly, the insurance is rarely more than £100 (except the Bentley) as I have them on classic policies. The VED is another issue, but as I use them on a rotational basis I have become adept at using the SORN system.
Thanks again for the information.

In November I changed my Bentley Continental GT for a Porsche Cayenne. Going from a 12 cylinder / 6.0 litre / 198 mph car to a 6 cylinder / 3 litre / 135 mph vehicle attracted a 40% insurance premium increase! Insurance is a bizarre business.

Yes, no rhyme or reason. I was quoted £87 for a 1995 RR value £18000, I then bought the 1988 car with a value of £8000 and the premium went up to £107. Only £20 but in %age terms fairly steep.
I love your current car and I look forward to owning one of them in ten years. I sold my S Class coupe last year but I really miss having a coupe, must do something about that 😳.
You know there’s something different about you when a prospective house purchase is driven by the size of the garage.
