Default Greetings from Glen

Greetings all, Glen here. I've admired Jaguars and the XK8 in particular since I was a teenager and finally had the opportunity to make my first purchase - a 2006 XK8 "Victory Edition". It's very exciting to be a part of this community and finally get behind the wheel of an XK8 after dreaming about it for so many years. Unlike most folks here I'm a novice with respect to maintaining and servicing cars, but I'm excited to learn as I go. I'm sure I will have plenty of dumb questions along the way.

Cheers,
Glen

Welcome to the Forums.

We were all novices at some time in our lives.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Glen,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Good luck.
And some of us stay novices. I've been restoring classic cars as a hobby and repairing my own daily drivers for 37 years and I still feel like I don't know anything. Friends and family are always describing to me some noise their Camry or whatever is making and asking me what is wrong with it. I always tell them, "you'll have to take it in because I have no idea". Its not like I'm a professional mechanic and somebody has been bringing me three or four new car problems a day, five days a week. I've only ever dealt with the one or two weird problems a year that I've had with my own few cars. That's where our forum comes in. Somebody here has racked up more miles much sooner than you, figured out that problem and posted how to fix it. But the key is that subsequently we all have a discussion and determine what we can do to prevent it from happening to the rest of us. If you read these forums religiously and in addition to the Jaguar service intervals, also do what the forum consensus recommends for preventative maintenance for your particular model, then you'll have a very happy ownership experience. Welcome aboard. Victory Edition is highly desired so you've done well already.

Hello, Glen,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Xk8!
Don't worry about being a novice. As Grant mentions we all started out at the beginning once.
All that's required is a desire to Learn. You will do Just Fine.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
