Hi everyone. I am a new member, Sodingile from Durban, South Africa. I recently got a 1997 Jaguar XJR to fix up as my Sunday family car. I think its a straight 6 cylinder 4.0. Its an honor to be in this forum and hope to learn a lot as I work on my project. I have read all the tips for new members and hope this is the right place to introduce myself.

Welcome to the forums Sodingile,
You are correct - the 1997 XJR was the last of the straight 6 cylinder Jaguar saloons before it was superseded by the visually similar XJ8 model in the same year.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Other Areas Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/other-areas-43/ to find other members in your part of the World.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Good luck with your project and enjoy the forums.
Graham
