Greetings from Minnesota
Hello ... My name is Carl and I'm returning back to the financially questionable hobby of having a British "fun car": this time a 2007 Jaguar XK8.
My example is a convertible with 55K miles on it. Formerly a southern US car, I brought it up from a Jag specialist in Florida and immediately stuck it into winter storage (December in Minnesota is no weather for a convertible). My daily driver is a 2015 Mitosubishi.
I've had several MGs (TC, Midget), Jags (Series II XK-E, Mk 7 saloon), Rolls Royce (Silver Shadow II) and several Ranging Rovers as daily drivers.
The XK8 came out of storage last week and already I've put 700 miles on it. Had it over 100 MPH only once.
Already I'm experiencing the quirky British electrics issues of my past cars but hopefully I can get on top of it quickly for this car. (More on that later ...)
Thanks to the forum administrators and moderators for managing this site. I'm looking forward to much learning about my "new" Jaguar.

Hello, Carl,
You're SO right, a British car is a Very financially questionable hobby, but Oh what fun and rewards await successful completion of some small project! The BIG ones even more so! It's only money after all, and you can't take it with you.
I grew up in Montana, and I have a hard time imagining a convertible in such northern climes, anytime before mid June or after mid August. You're Brave!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
