Default Greetings from the Pacific Northwest Coast!

Hello all...

I'm really not sure how it happened...About 3 months ago, there I was, toodling around in my '05 PT Cruiser, dreading the repair costs that were adding up in my head as I heard the trans-axle begin making the tell-tale noises of high-mileage wear and tear. So I figured, just sell it, move on to something suited for my artist lifestyle here on the beach. So I took 900 bucks and purchased an old 4WD Geo Tracker that was perfect for beach driving and trekking through the mud and the muck of the PacNW winters. After a week or so, the alternator went out and as I was replacing it in my driveway, a total stranger drives up and offers me $2500 for my 900 (plus a hundred for the new alternator) investment. Uh. Duh.

The guy came back the next take, took delivery and there I was with cash in hand...and no car. A buddy that repairs and resells cars he buys at auction told me he had a 98 Vanden Plas. Just under 100K miles, 2 owners, all service records...that he'd give me for $3500. Ha. Me and the dog in a Jaguar. Nice thought but no. And then I was at his place for a BBQ, saw the car (after being blinded by its shine!), reluctantly took it for a spin, offered him an insanely lowball amount of cash...and drove home in my new most favorite car ever.

I'm still not sure how it all happened but for once in my almost 50 years I seem to have ended up as one of those guys you hear at the office that has a 1974 Pinto and trades a couple times, ending up with a Lexus and a timeshare. Yup....this time it's ME!

Welcome.

Well done.

I reckon the dog will be in "dog heaven" in that car. Kind of like "look at me" to the kerbside litter as he glides past.

What a story!
What a deal!
A Jaguar, carrying you and the dog through the salt mud on the beach.
What a picture that brings to mind!
Congratulations!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB (who knows that the oceans are only to keep the continents apart.)
