Default Greetings from snowy Connecticut!

Hello All!

Jerry from Connecticut, U.S.A. here. I'm happy to report to my new "automobile family" that after lots of model research, plenty of searching, and a bit of bargaining (which didn't obtain any real price break), I just purchased my first Jaguar!

She is an excellent one-owner Vapour Grey 2009 XJ8 with under 47,000 miles. The car was first purchased in May of 2010, so it was a 2009 model year "hold-over" that sat out the beginning of its life on a dealer lot before being sold to a New York owner. He apparently traded it for a new model in December of 2013, where it was again parked at the original selling dealership until my purchase. Yes: A full 13 months! I have no idea why it did not sell in all this time, especially since the original asking price was reduced a few months ago. I'm so glad I found her!

In looking at various websites including Jaguar USA, it appears that due to the very late date my car was originally put into service, my car is the only, and will possibly be the last-ever, Factory-Certified pre-owned 2009 Jaguar in America. This security factor weighed heavily in my decision to purchase this particular car, especially when the dealer verified she'll hold her Certified status through April 1, 2016. I consider myself a blessed individual.

May I ask the more experienced members what parts of the vehicle I should check out in greater detail now that she is in my possession? Because the car was driven sparingly this past year (under 500 miles), is there anything you feel should be checked or replaced? She already has new tires and brakes, and has had an oil change. Should I ask the dealer to give me the latest flash updates to the ECM, BCM, Infotainment, and other modules...or leave well-enough alone?

And for my neighbors in Connecticut: Which garage do you prefer to keep up with maintenance items? I imagine that this info will also prove handy for me after April 1, 2016 when the Certified Warranty on my 2009 Vapour Grey XJ "eVapourates" on me!

Thanks in advance for your advice and information! I am so happy to join your family (Truth be told: I am also a true Buick family member, and have an older Lincoln as well).

~ Jerry
