Default Head Lamp Adjustment Issues.

Hi,

I have an 1999 Jaguar S Type 3.0l V6 SE Auto in Mistral Blue. It was my late father's Car and now has passed down to my Mother, but I do the maintenance for her. The Car went for it's annual MOT yesterday at the main dealership where we live and passed on everything, except the N/S Dipped Headlamp adjustment being too low. Due to this being one of the first of the new S Type's it is a standard reflecta style headlamp and not an HID unit with AUTO Self Leveling.

They said that the manual adjuster wasn't working, so they couldn't adjust it to the correct level for the MOT. To replace the Head Lamp unit and including fitting was going to be the best part of £500. This afternoon I have dismantled the front of the car and removed the offending unit to check it over. I found that the manual adjuster for the up/down on the main beam is funtioning as it should. The other manual adjuster is for the side to side adjustment for the dipped beam which also appears to be funtioning normally. The only adjustment I have found for the up/down on the dipped beam is via the electric adjustment motor which is controlled by the adjustment control on the lower instrument panel below the boot/fuel release button's. I have tested the motor and found that it is also funtioning as it should.

Could anyone tell me if there is another manual adjuster for the dipped beam up/down which I have missed. The only other alternative would be to source a second hand unit, and hope that the adjusters are funtioning, as the cost of a new unit really is outside my Mother's finances.

Any help would be appreciative on this matter,

Many Thank's.

Welcome to the forum.

You should head on over to the S-Type / S type R section of the board and post, those guys should be able to give you some advice.

welcome to the forum my friend, great to have you here with us.
Nice intro and thanks for sharing.

Please drop by the relevant section for your car where the guys with those vehicles will be happy to answer as best they can I'm sure. There are threads on this I'm sure within the S type section and also in the quick FAQ link thread....should be easy to find.....good luck.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com.

If you haven’t already you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for. To do this go to, User CP, Edit Signature, Add Vehicle Details and such and Save Your Signature.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.
