New here. I'm driving a 1995 XJR and have done so for the last four years. A terrific car in terms of performance and comfort. Fuel economy is also splendid, my 1969 Buick Skylark 350 comsumes less ...

But few cars has the same high level of harmony in the driveline. This engine is prefectly harmonised to it's gm gearbox. Perfect. A fifth gear would have been nice, though, for qiucker take offs.

Yes, five-speed 'boxes have closer gearing ratios. 1st gear in the 4L80E-box is rather high, and the car doesn't come alive until about 30 mph.
