Default Hello.

Hi Foum.

New Jaguar owner. Always admired them.

I've just acquired a XJ12 S1 with a 350 chev TH350 conversion in it.

I like it a lot, lots of things I need to fix, change or personalise.

My biggest want it is to fit a TH700 box for overdrive, a thicker steering wheel, fix some electrics in it.

It's a pretty cool car, just needs some love.

Many of us Xj owners drive converted Jaguars. Mine came to me that way, and it sounds like yours did too. What a fun car they are! British Luxury and American reliability.

I'll see you over in our Xj6-Xj12 section, but in the meantime,
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hi guys, thanks for the links, GGG, certainly will make use of them

LnrB yes, it came converted. It was originally green, now is red (unfortunately) and was professionally painted about 25 years ago. I believe it was a bit of a show car in the 80s and 90s and had personal plates DUKE on it.

Yeah, I love the feel of the car. If you didn't know better, you wouldn't know it was a Chev lump, its just a big, lazy, smooth V8 that moves the big old girl comfortably down the road. I'm happy at that, as I'm a Ford guy, so the less GM the better!

I am in the process of putting a stereo into it now, plus fiddling with some wiring to see if I can get things working better (like the fuel gauge).

As far as mods, I'd really like to put wire wheels onto it, I like the Simmons that it has, but I would much prefer wire wheels. I would also really really like to put a full length ragtop roof in it, but thats a lot of money and a long term thing. First off I think I will put a T700 into it, I'd really like to drive it to Bathurst and Summernats this year so an overdrive box would be a lot better.

Welcome to the forum.
The S1 is a great highway cruiser when sorted for the trips you want to do. I often drive mine deep into central NSW from Brisbane.

I will add you to the NSW Roll Call thread.
