Default Hello

Hi. I'm living in Mijas, between Malaga and Marbella and just bought a 2007 XJ, X350. It had a genuine 14,500kms on the clock when I bought it. Driving down from Freiburg to Mijas added 2500 to that.
It is a really beautiful car to drive and one thing I noticed that had only happened to me before when driving classic cars is that people move out of your way - other raod users like Jags (the old ones).

Anyway I have an issue.

I drove the car on saturday and it was perfect. Parked up and went to use it yesterday when I got 4 warning messages on the dash and the car would ot accelerate beyond around 15kph. I assume this is a safety feature - not allowing you to wreck the engine when warning lights are on.

Today I got the same but the car seemed to be running on only 4 cyclinders - certainly not 6.
The manual with the car is German so even if was technically adept I could not read what it says.

I am convinced that the problem is with the electrics since teh 2500 kms since buying it have been faultless, all te guages reading as they should, no noise problems

Anyone got any ideas? All the garages are shut today - bank holiday here

Thank you

Welcome to the forum Mijas,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I was driving along the E15/A7 last month. Always amazing how the manic traffic around Malaga stays well clear of our cars!

With multiple odd warnings appearing suddenly appearing, the first thing to check and eliminate is battery condition.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Thank you. A Jag deaaler in UK says that because of the number of faults signified and the differences between them the likely problem is low voltage from the battery. So new battery needed - although the battery is 4 weeks old.

However on looking here and elsewhere changing the battery is not simple - I will need codes for the radio and need to reset the Parking Brake.

I have looked through here but I cannot find advice on how to do these things.

Can anyone point me at the right Threads or tell me how to do it?

Many thanks

I cannot see how to edit the post - so Thank you to GGG for coming up with the same answer as the Jag dealer

Welcome.

Follow Grahams link to the X350 section, they will have the answers.

Time zones will be the biggest bug if you are in a hurry.

Thank you all. I replaced the battery and the car is running perfectly again. Now we wait to see if it was a bad battery or something else caused the old battery to lose charge. We shall see.

Again - thanks.

But I should also thank Taylors of Gt Dunmow who helped enormously, correct diagnosis and advice was spot on. Car running perfectly. Great that a big garage can behave this way and not hide behind the corporate exterior. I didn't buy the car from them or buy anything - they helped because they could. Brilliant. Well done Taylors.
