Default Hello

Hello everyone. We purchased our first Jag used on Halloween 2011, I know...I know. But it was a 2002 Electric blue x type 3.0 with only 43K on it. Wanted it as soon as we drove it. Luckily being unfamiliar with Jags, we bought the extended warranty with the seal warranty. Best thing we every did. 9 days after purchase, the engine blew. Cylinder #1 let loose and the piston hit the spark plug fused it to the block and the head of the piston shattered into hundreds of pieces. Dealer said they had never seen that happen as well as the warranty adjuster, thank you to cleveland jaguar for fighting for me with the warranty, they were great. Replaced it with a used engine with 36K miles and have only had moderate issues, but multiple after. We still love the car but need help with some fixes which I can undertake on my own. Have already used some posts from the site, thank you. Look forward to being a part of the forum.

Welcome to the forum Krash,

Hope the fixes required are nothing major.

I see you've already found your way to the X-Type tech section. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Mid West Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mid-west-us-il-ia-mi-mn-mo-oh-wi-39/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to the forum. Glad the warranty is helping, never fun to start a purchase with out of pocket funds. Which company's warranty do you have? I sure many would be interested to know your claim experience.

I believe it was AAS. It was a 24 month 24K miles warranty. I hit the 24K well before the 24 months was up. Paid about $900 for it with the seal and gasket warranty, which is essential. Replaced an engine, A/C compressor, fly wheel (although believe the dealer cracked it when the changed the engine, maybe over torqued the bolts), engine mount and seat motor. About 8K in repairs, so I definately made a very good investment. I had a $250 deductible so add about $750 in deductibles to the cost.

Wow, $900 sounds like a great price if they covered all of those items. There are a number of threads on whether extended warranties are worth it. Your experience can certainly add to the debate. Look forward to future posts.

Hi Krash:
Welcome to the forum and greetings from the Midwest Region! Wow, quite a story. Thank heavens for that warranty! Connecting with the x-type folks here should help you work out remaining niggles.

Again welcome!
Scott
