Default Hello to all

I am a first time Jaguar owner, but a long time fan. We were blessed (I think) with the opportunity to buy a our 2002 XJ8 at a very affordable price. She has 110k miles and certainly shows them with various dents, scratches and dings, stains and worn leather and an absolutely odd odor. Please understand that my wife loves our new "Kate" yes we named her, this is a project car. After owning her for about an hour I took my first ride in this absolutely elegant beauty... Within 10 minutes the check engine light came on only seconds after the check gas cap light... Ugh! Don't get me wrong, she isn't a junker, but she needs a lot of TLC and it is a good thing she's here, because we'll take good care of her.

I have an issue that I do need help with. She is in the shop now having the Purge Valve replaced... We were told that would fix her right up! That would be nice because we need emissions testing to get our tag!!!

Hopefully my next post will include happy owners loving our new Kate.

Thank you all and I look forward to posting.

FJ

Well, we did it. Kate has passed emissions and is street legal! We had one little thing left to do before she was truly road ready and that was the antenna mast. We didn't notice until after the money changed hands that it was broken. We replaced it and now we can listen to thousands of commercials and a few songs! She rides really well. I love taking her out for a ride (I guess that works for Mrs Kate too). We have a new problem to deal with now - the head gasket is leaking...ugh. I guess nothing worthwhile is easy. I plan to take few pics this weekend so that we can show her off a little. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
