Hello from Boston
The first Jaguar in our family was a lovely metallic gray Mark IV drophead with red leather bought by one of my brothers about 1950. Too young to drive it I can still remember the comforting feeling in the back seat with the top up, and a view of a dashboard that lit up in red and looked like landing at a great city at night.
Then my sister got a gorgeous red 120 M convertible.
My brothers later bought a special bodied XK 120 which Sherwood Johnston had built to take the record at the Mt. Washington Hill Climb. My eldest brother drove it to first place at the 1957 Watkins Glen Classic. Another brother still races it at Mt. Washington and in Vintage class.
My first Jaguar was a 1960 black XK convertible with red leather, black top and chrome wire wheels.
My prettiest was a 1972 XK-E convertible, also red, black, black and chrome. Didn't get another until the 1984 S type V-12, black and beige. Got the coupe, my only hard top.
Then two XK 8 convertibles, a lovely golden beige with beige 2002 and a less satisfactory black on black 2007.
Just acquired a British Racing Green with beige XK-R which I am loving but to tell the truth it has more power and torque than I need and I am treating the accelerator with real respect. It's probably my last but I would like to live long enough to make it last a while.
