Hello from Brixham in DEVON UK
Hello,
I am a 65 year old retired Fire Orricer living now in Brixham, sunny Devon. (UK). I own 2 jaguars, a Primrose yellow 1968 Mk2 340 and a 2008 XJ Soverign.
The Primrose 340 (love of my life) I've had for around 9 years and in that time I have had the bodywork done, including a respray, new woodwork inside. The Ambler seats recovered in real leather, new headlining, new door cards, carpets replaced and a conversion to chrome wire wheels. The automatic gearbox rebuilt, being the only mechanical item to let me down.
Due to disability I only manage around 1000 to 1500 miles per year. She is kept in one of my garages at all times and used only if it's dry. Because some farsighted previous owner fitted an expensive electronic ignition system she starts first time on the button.
The Soverign I bought a week ago, replacing a 3.5 XJ sport which replaced perhaps my favourite all time (excluding the Mk2 of course) 2007 XK convertible.
Now that was a car! I'm happy with the soverign though although my wife drives it more than I. My max travel distance to drive is around 30 miles in total so any other distances then she who must be obeyed is the pilot! I say pilot, because it's like being in a low flying plane! She has two settings. Stop and flat out(well nearly) and in the XJ's 90mph is like 70 in other cars.... I won't mention the speeding ticket she had at 135mph when she was slowing down after spotting a speed trap.........oops, too late....
I am also a keen model engineer so anyone in the UK with a bolt needing making or other engineering type issues email me. I'm cheap since I don't charge😀. I am retired after all and need to get away from SWMBO as much as possible. In the past I have turned some carburettor trumpets (for a Ford Zephyr though) and a crank nut for a local BSA motorbike enthusiast.
That's about it. Look forward to using the forum and hearing from other like minded enthusiasts.
Mike Freeman.

Hello, Mike,
I love your wife! A woman after my own heart I can tell. If I have to grow up someday, I want to be Just Like Her!
Those who know me personally now, if they read this description, might be forgiven if they mistake it for me. I was stopped on the Passing Zone once, when asked if I was aware I was doing 80mph, I answered, "IT'S A PASSING ZONE! I WAS PASSING!!" He let me off with a warning as I was dressed to go out, definitely not a threat to National Security, and had no wants or warrants against my name.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB, the crazy red head with a lead foot.
