Smile Hello From Central Illinois!

Hello,

I don't actually have my Jaguar yet...picking it up tomorrow (6-14-13)! I have always admired Jaguars, but never entertained the idea that some day I might have one.

We are getting a 1998 Jaguar XJ8L with 74,000 miles. Purchase price after some negotiations is $4000.00.

I am hoping to get to know the Jaguar set. :0)

Hope I uploaded the pictures correctly.

@BabyKitty

Welcome !! Looks like a nice place to start your Jaguar ownership. Read the X308 forum (Your car is an X308, made from 98 to 03) There are a lot of great guys on there who will be very helpful. My first Jaguar was also an X308 (An '00 XJR here in the US) It was a great car and I still miss it.

Welcome BabyKitty, and greetings from the Midwest Region. Always good to have other near neighbor on board! Congrats on the purchase. As it turns out, I also purchased a '98 XJ8 just last week with a few more miles on it than yours. They're great cars, but do take time to familiarize yourself if you haven't already with the potential issues - most notably whether the timing chain tensioners have been replaced or not. Mine is in the shop for a few days as we speak having them done. Better safe than sorry!

Again welcome and enjoy the drive!
Scott

Hey Midwest Jag,

Thanks for the welcome. Before I considered purchasing the Jaguar, I read anything I could find on my year and model. The most reported complaint seemed to be the transmission and the tensioners. I'm not sure if my Jag has the plastic tensioners or not...will find out tomorrow.
I will check out the Midwest forum. Thanks again.
