Default Hello from Dallas!

Hello everyone,

I crashed my 15 yr old Infiniti last month (yes I do keep cars that long) , after a couple of weeks, Dh decided on getting a Jag (I wanted Volvo XC70).
Last week we picked up our kitty cat, an '04 XJR. I couldn't be more happier! She is gorgeous and has all the right toys, nav, dvd etc.

Here she is!!

Thanks Jeff! That's a 1951 Austin Champ, it has a huge Rolce Royce engine in it. That little thing weighs 3 tons. That's my husbands baby.

Great Car!! I was working at the Jag Dealer in Fort Worth when we got the first 04XJ with DVD and rear entertainment package. My buddy had a DVD of alien vs predator and we sat in the rear seat for lunch hour (and then some) watching the front seat headrests!!! We had to hook up the battery charger and then we finished the PDI.

Welcome neighbor. Sweet ride. Not sure who "Dh" is that hindered you from getting the XC70 ("Dumb husband" would be my guess from the context) but you'll surely thank him soon if you haven't already. Just pull up the best pic you can find of the Volvo and put it alongside that XJR....nuff said!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I thought DH stands for dear husband, but dumb husband will work just as well.

Dh definitely was SO against volvo, he said it's a box with no personality.

This car is just sooo awesome, it definitely turns heads, (well I get that a lot too with the Infiniti, although for the wrong reason, like get that pos away from my car look) ha ha.

It's a 2005 XJ8L she picked up in Houston and drove to Seattle with a girlfriend. Said that 11 hours of driving in this car is like spending an afternoon on the couch. I agree - it's the most comfortable road car I've ever riden in. You'll love it!!

All the best -

Welcome msjam;

Your husband has got to be one popular figure right now after saving you from a life of vanilla with a Volvo - As for the Austin with a RR engine, that's got to be worth a few pictures of its own.

What a car ! Those TVs in the headrests !

I remember the Austin Champ from my schooldays, when I was in the Army Cadets. On Summer Camp the Army sometimes let the officers, (our schoolteachers), have one for the fortnight. Main thing I remember was the loud hum off the tyres.

Wow - is that a real .303 cal Bren gun?

Nice to see another dog person on the board! BTW - is the dog allowed to ride in the Jag?

Hi Bob,

Yes that is a real Bren gun, that thing is heavy! Unfortunately, my dog died from cancer last year, one day shy of his 9th birthday. He was allowed in my husbands 99 Jag, he was a very spoiled dog.

Thanks everyone!!
